Eagle Brook Church

At A Glance

Eagle Brook Church, Apple Valley Campus project converted an existing big-box retail store into a modern worship building and campus. The large, paved storage yard and parking areas were reconstructed to improve site circulation and pedestrian safety. Overall hard surface coverage was reduced from the existing conditions allowing adequate space for creation of outdoor gathering areas, open stormwater management facilities that dual function as a landscape amenity, and ample screening. Developing an effective stormwater management strategy was key to a successful project due to existing shallow storm sewer infrastructure surrounding the project area while also located in a drinking water protection area. Through the process of strategic site layout, we accommodated a series of swales, shallow pretreatment outlet structures, and open filtration basins to treat stormwater on the site.

Nordicware Expansion Building 8 and 9

St. Louis Park, Minnesota

At A Glance

Building 8: 21,853-square-foot addition to the manufacturing warehouse, constructing a second loading dock, a new parking lot on the north side of the property and landscaping improvements.

Building 9: 45,000-square-foot addition to the warehouse and loading dock operations on the east side of the campus. The project includes a small café with an outdoor patio on the south side of the property facing the regional trail.

Xcel Energy Marshall Operations Center

Minneapolis, Minnesota

At A Glance

The site design of this new facility is focused on delivering sustainable landscape solutions which focus on the surrounding site context, human health and well-being, water, vegetation, and education.

Surrounding the site are several prairie habitats, scattered stands of woods, and the Mississippi River, which acts as the key component to the Mississippi Flyway Bird Migration Corridor. To connect and enhance these existing habitats, the vegetation treatments proposed for this project include the creation of pollinator and wildlife habitats through the use of native prairie, tree, and shrub plantings. A variety of stormwater facilities are proposed for the site and all of them were purposefully placed along the public edges of the site. The facilities provide a multi-stage stormwater treatment process, which highlights the importance of stormwater in our landscape.

Fortune 100 Main Entry

Loucks works closely with a Fortune 100 company to develop a campus framework plan to exploit the hidden qualities of the site without erasing vestiges of history. The plan studies campus entries, vehicular circulation, parking, building entries, landscape, and preservation of native landscapes. Sustainable strategies are evaluated for implementation on campus to promote stewardship of natural resources and protect the environment. Building entries are studied in detail, and plans are developed to enhance the arrival experience and brand the site. Campus trails are evaluated and studied for expansion opportunities offering workers an immersive experience in the landscape. Programming of key exterior spaces studies flexibility and collaboration enhancement opportunities.
